 Changes Made:

Instead of 2D characters, we decided to make stylized 3D models for the boy and the mom. I (Carolyn) will focus on 3D while Dilara works on 2D assets and effects. We will be working in Blender.

Naming Conventions:
  • [Name of Environment]_Block_000.blend
  • [Name of Environment]_000.blend
  • [CharacterModeling]_Block_000.blend
  • [CharacterModeling]_000.blend
  • Name all assets appropriately in outliner

Things to Consider:

  • Make sketches of environments to figure out what 2D (stationary) and 3D (interactive) assets are needed
  • What 2D effects will be used? When?
    • Car
    • Bell
    • Device Notification
  • Create detailed color palette file to use for consistency
  • Dividing work equally - 3D vs. 2D
    • Manage post production roles 
  • Hand-Painted Textures vs. Procedural Textures
    • Time management
  • Refresh character rigging knowledge
    • Facial rigging will be a challenge - stylistic shortcuts?
  • What will the schedule look like for 2D compositing?
    • 2D Blender
    • After Effects?
    • Using Wacom (Personal or Campus?)
  • Think about what sound effects will be used - what programs will we be using to acquire audio?
    • Soundly
    • Adobe Stock Sounds
